It’s a heart-sinking moment: you go to play an old family video, and the VCR makes a grinding noise, leaving your tape snapped, tangled, or crinkled.

⚠️ Avoid DIY Sticky Tape Repairs

Please do not attempt to fix a tape using household sticky tape or glue. The adhesive will melt when it hits the spinning video heads of a player, permanently ruining both your tape and the machine. We use professional-grade splicing blocks and heat-resistant archival tape designed specifically for high-speed video equipment.

Our Restoration & Signal Stabilization Process

A physical repair is only the first step. To ensure you get a watchable digital file, we use a high-end signal chain that most “consumer” services don’t have:

  1. RTI Tapechek Mechanical Cleaning: Before playback, repaired tapes are run through our RTI system to remove debris and ensure the tape tension is perfectly reset.
  2. Blackmagic Teranex Processing: The physical “scar” from a splice can cause the image to jump. We feed the signal through our Teranex Standards Converter, which performs thousands of calculations per second to stabilize the video and “smooth out” timing errors.
  3. High-Bitrate Capture: Once stabilized, we immediately capture the tape to a permanent digital MP4 master.
